The Circular Challenge
How does a butterfly relate to the circular economy?
The World Economic Forum’s circular economy definition is “an industrial system that is restorative or regenerative by intention and design.” As opposed to the traditional linear model that transforms raw materials into products that are used once and discarded, the circular model closes the loop by bringing products back into the cycle after use so they can be reused, recycled, or repurposed. https://insights.sap.com/what-is-circular-economy/
Introduction to Sustainability at SAP
First of all, the “Sustainable Business Strategy” of SAP will be introduced, whereafter more information will be provided on the circular economy. The “Butterfly Diagram” of the Ellen MacArthur foundation is used to explain the circular economy concept. Finally, the goal of the workshop will be introduced.
SAP will provide three company use cases linked to different parts of the “Butterfly Diagram”. The goal of the workshop is to help one of the three customers achieve greater circularity. Some of the guiding questions are as follows:
Participants are allowed to research the brand online during the workshop.
Each group will present their findings and SAP will provide feedback on the results. Remember, there is no right or wrong, so please use your creative minds to the fullest extent.
Sustainability today is a core business imperative. With 77% of the world’s transactions touching SAP systems and more than 400,000 companies using SAP software, we recognize both the opportunity and responsibility to deliver digital solutions that enable you to manage your – and the planet’s -- limited resources productively, contribute to an inclusive economy, and shape a sustainable future.
Ofcourse, there will be plenty of snacks and you will receive a MyFuture Activity by attending this case battle!
