ABSTRACT/AGENDA OF THE PRESENTATION
Daily around 8 million card payment transactions are performed in the Netherlands alone. Consumers have collectively embraced the bank card as a flexible and easy way to pay without having to carry cash around. To be able to achieve this kind of usability and trust two things are very important; interoperability and security. In this lecture we will have a behind the scenes look at the technology (EMV) that makes this all possible. Furthermore, we will have a sneak preview of how it can be used to facilitate mobile payments.
